This e-portfolio is designed to share my experience related to my work in the San Francisco State University MPH program. My interests include community organizing, sexual health, community-participatory research and the use of mass media as a tool for health promotion in marginalized communities.
Please take a moment to explore my website, Twentyfive7Media to learn more about my work in community health promotion. There you will find pages dedicated to my first film, BDSM: It's Not What You Think, my sexual health podcast Leather Queer Radio, and my latest media project, SOMOS: Celbrando Nuestras Experiencias Como Los Gay Inmigrantes. Prior to entering the MPH program, I completed a bachelors degree in French, political science and journalism at Texas Christian University. My work as a student journalist lead me toward health activism through volunteer work at the Fort Worth AIDS Outreach Center, the Tarrant County Health Department, and as a member of ACT-UP/Dallas. Following my years at TCU, I worked on HIV/AIDS issues in the private sector, in community-based settings and in the public sector. One of the highlights of my experience were my years of international travel, working for Continental Airlines, which allowed me to connect and learn from gay communities from Berlin to Bangkok to Beirut. Running throughout these diverse experiences is the thread of community-mindedness. And the idea of paying attention to the stories that people tell about their lives and their communities.
As you browse my eFolio, you will see the skills and competencies I haved gained through listening to these remarkable stories and through my experience in the MPH program. If you have any questions about this site, please feel free to contact me.
